Alicia Cañas, a sophomore biology/French major from Madrid, Spain, came to Washington University in 2011. She joined the Strassmann/Queller lab as a freshman working with Boahemaa Adu-Oppong. During the summer of 2012, she worked with Ricardo Escalante in Spain researching D. discoideum autophagy. Currently, she works under Debbie Brock and alongside Kai Jones. When she is not in lab or studying, Alicia choreographs Flamenco dances, she is a member WUsauce (Salsa club), and she is a Spanish tutor.
